3/7/98  Successful Meringue  1 Tablespoon cornstarch
Enough water to moisten cornstarch
1/2 cup boiling water
3 egg whites
6 Tablespoons sugar
Pinch of salt  Moisten the cornstarch in the small amount  of cold water.
Stir into the 1/2 cup of boiling water.
Cook until thick and clear.
Cool.
Beat the 3 egg whites until stiff and add salt and then sugar gradually.
Beat in the cooked and cooled cornstarch and beat until of the correct consistency to stand in pretty peaks.
Brown as usual in 375 degree oven.  Elfrieda Postma  
